DIFFERENCE BETWEEN EAU DE TOILETTE, EAU DE PARFUM, AND FRAGRANCE

Let's start by pointing out the differences between eau de toilette, eau de parfum (EDP) and the Fragrance because it is undoubtedly the million-dollar question in the world of perfumery. And it's normal, because these three formats are the most widespread in the market. Let's see exactly what each of them consists of.

EAU DE TOILETTE

The formula known as eau de toilette or cologne water, it has a concentration between a 8 and 15% essential oil diluted in ethyl alcohol.

Having a relatively low essence concentration, its price is much lower than that of the EDP while having similar performance.

Among its most striking characteristics are that its scents are usually citrus and fresh, as its main goal is to create that feeling of freshness left after a bath in icy waters. It is a very widespread format because it is very economical, and is mainly sold in pharmacies and supermarkets. An example is .

EAU DE PARFUM

The eau de parfum (EDP) is the medium scale between eau de toilette and Fragrance since its concentration is between a 16-18% essence diluted in water and alcohol; which makes the fragrance last much longer, reaching up to 6 hours.

This type of format is the ideal alternative to Fragrances, since they are much more economical but have a very acceptable intensity. This Fragrance is a good alternative for those looking for a Fragrance that is long-lasting but cheap, as it has a solution of water and alcohol plus essential oils that reduces its price. An example of EDP is our FRAGRANCE

Fragrance is the the pinnacle of the Fragrance world. The authentic one, since the rest of the formats we mention derive from it. Its origin dates back to the Roman era, when they used it to mask the strong smell of their bodies caused by lack of bathing.

Fragrance grades reach an essential oil concentration of no less than between 20 to 30% which makes it have the longest-lasting and most intense fixation on the market. Also, the essence is diluted in less alcohol, which considerably reduces negative effects on sensitive skin.

Currently, there are very exclusive Fragrance brands specialized in niche Fragrances, both for men and women. Sare clear examples of this, as they produce Fragrances of excellent quality with a delicacy and aromatic composition completely unique.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COLOGNE AND EAU DE TOILETTE (OR EAU DE COLOGNE)

It's easy to think they are the same, but cologne and eau de cologne are very, very different. The concentration percentage of the essence varies greatly between the two.

Invented in the German city that bears its name, this composition stands out for having one of the lowest concentrations of essential oils of the market with a proportion of 1% to 8% depending on the brand. Said essential oil is diluted in ethyl alcohol (ethanol) thus creating a rapid volatility and a low duration of impregnation. Its scents usually tend to freshness, a product of the use of citrus oils.

As you can see, cologne is a super light format, so it is the perfect companion perfect for sleeping or to use in the summer seasons when the heat is relentless.

The eau de toilette is also light and fresh, but it has a great advantage over cologne: it lasts much longer, since, as we mentioned earlier, its concentration ranges between 8 and 15%. Its scent can last up to three hours on your skin.

And don't worry, because if you are in love with the scent of a Fragrance but can't spend a lot of money, it is quite likely that it has its version both in eau de parfum and in eau de toilette.
