It can be said that the story of Loewe began in a leather goods workshop, located on Lobo Street (now Echegaray Street) in Madrid in 1872, with the arrival of the German craftsmanHeinrich Loewe Rössberg, who had a great ambition to create his own fashion brand.
20 years later, Loewe was born with its first store located in the capital of Spain, on Príncipe Street in Madrid. And 13 years later, thanks to its immense popularity among luxury enthusiasts, it became the Supplier to the Royal Householdby order of Alfonso XIII.
The Expansion of Loewe
After receiving the title of official supplierto the Royal Householdand handing over the reins of the company to Enrique Loewe Knappe, grandson of the founder, Loewe began to grow rapidly and achieve great renown in Spain.
Furthermore, the new designs launched in 1945 by José Pérez de Rozas, the newcreative director, helped the fashion house gain much more international fame.
From 1963 onwards, Loewe stores began opening in countries such as England.
