As someone who isn’t a perfume expert but does have a deep fondness for the original Dolce & Gabbana (the pre-reformulation masterpiece), I went into Divain 98 with realistic expectations. To my surprise, it’s actually a very enjoyable scent — but it’s also unmistakably its own thing.
The opening has a slightly more cologne-leaning character than the original, which, as a man, I actually appreciate. There’s a rich burst of florals that immediately reminded me of the classic DNA, but the composition takes a different path. The resemblance is there, but it’s more of a nod than a faithful recreation.
Where Divain 98 really shines is in its projection and sillage — genuinely impressive for the price point. It creates a lovely aura around you and gets noticed. Longevity is decent, lasting a few hours, though nowhere near the endurance of the vintage Dolce & Gabbana. But considering the original is essentially extinct and impossible to find in its true form, I respect the effort here.
Overall, Divain 98 feels like a modern tribute to a fragrance many of us miss. It's not a clone, and it never quite becomes the original — but it’s pleasant, wearable, and a solid value for anyone nostalgic for that long-lost scent.
