Common types of diets. Are they effective?

Diets... as feared as they are hated. But often, they're the best thing we can do to give ourselves a little push and achieve a healthier lifestyle. And even more so in summer, when, in addition to being super healthy to fully enjoy all our plans, we want to look our best.

Today we want to introduce you to the most common types of diets. However, do not start any of these diets without professional supervision. Every body is different; what works well for some may not work well for others. As you know, no diet is effective without exercise. Therefore, we recommend this strength training (which you can also do comfortably from home) complementing it with these exercises to increase flexibility.

Oh! And of course, any of these diets must be accompanied by drinking lots and lots of water. Teas like black tea or matcha tea will also greatly help you stay well hydrated and avoid water retention.

Detox Diet

The detox diet, also known as a detox dietdetox Detox is one of the most popular diets today. Detoxing is all the rage! And what does it involve? Very simple: "detoxifying" our bodies from excess fats and heavy foods. It can be done in several ways, either through daily detox smoothies complemented by a very bland diet; by consuming only liquids for at least one day a week; or by practicing intermittent fasting. However, if you're interested in a detox diet, don't even think about doing it on your own! It's important to know how to do it correctly, as excessive fluid consumption can cause imbalances in the absorption of vitamins and nutrients, with the consequent health risks.

There are several types:

1500 Calorie Diet

The 1500 calorie diet is a hypocaloric diet, that is, a diet that restricts daily calorie intake to create a calorie deficit that forces the This diet encourages the body to burn more calories, thus reducing the amount of fat stored in the body. This diet is low-calorie but very healthy, as it is based on our traditional Mediterranean diet, and the calorie reduction is not excessive. Therefore, weight is lost effectively but naturally, without the threat of rebound weight gain after the diet ends. Below, we provide a series of common guidelines for this type of diet, always based on real food.

  • 2 servings of dairy products daily.
  • Between 300-450 grams of vegetables each day, alternating cooked and raw.
  • 3 small servings (ideally as a side dish with lunch or dinner) of bread, pasta, or rice per day.

  • 150 grams of white fish twice a week, 120 grams of white meat 2-3 times a week, 100 grams of red meat once a week, 7 eggs per week (no more than 2 per day), and about 120 grams of tofu 2-3 times a week. Yes, tofu! These types of diets are anything but boring and lead to the discovery of new foods not so common in our diet, such as tofu, one of the most popular plant-based protein foods, perfect if you are vegan.
  • 2 pieces of fruit daily.
  • 1200 Calorie Diet

The 1200 calorie diet is also a low-calorie diet, a bit more extreme than the 1500 calorie diet, but equally balanced. It is also always based on whole foods, completely eliminating sugars and processed foods, the number one enemies of healthy eating.

    2000 Calorie Diet

Unlike a low-calorie diet, a 2000 calorie diet provides more energy than the body needs. This is obviously not appropriate if you're looking to lose weight or reduce volume, as it's used to increase muscle mass.

VERY IMPORTANT!Before starting any of these diets, count calories and consult your doctor or nutritionist. The number of calories needed depends on age, sex, height, amount of muscle mass, etc. Therefore, for a person of strong build, a 1500 calorie diet might be too low in calories, while for another person it might be even more than they need.

    Pineapple Diet

The pineapple diet is a low-calorie diet, which in its most extreme form consists of eating only pineapple for 3 days. It is diureticand detox, as it helps with weight loss by eliminating water retention.

Although it may sound strange, pineapple is a superfood, as it is a fruit with a high water content and a great supply of vitamins, minerals, and fiber.

There are several types of pineapple diets, from the most extreme (and dangerous if not supervised by a professional) in which only pineapple is consumed, to others that are much more recommendable and manageable, such as those that alternate pineapple with the consumption of other protein-rich foods (meats) and fiber-rich foods (vegetables).

There are other fruit-based diets, such as thewatermelon dietor thediet of Peach.

    High-Protein Diet

As its name suggests, this type of diet is based on a high consumption of protein, prioritizing it over carbohydrates or fats. Despite its high energy content, it is considered a low-calorie diet, often followed by athletes and people who want to lose weight.

You can get protein not only from meat or fish, but from many other foods, such as these fruits rich in protein.

    High-Fiber Diet

The high-fiber diet is also one of the most popular, since fiber provides many health benefits. It is based on the consumption, not exclusively but in large quantities, of fiber-rich foods. These are:

    • Vegetables such as lettuce, potatoes, broccoli, squash, chard, raw carrots, or spinach.
    • Legumes such as lentils, beans, or chickpeas.
    • Fruits and nuts.
    • Cereals, oats, whole-wheat bread, rice, quinoa, pasta Wheat…

That concludes our review of the most popular diets. Have you tried any of them?
